Mount Longido
TOUR
Mount Longido´s peak has an elevation of 2,637 m / 8,652 ft above sea level. It is located at the border to Kenya about 1,5 drive from the city of Arusha in the Mount Longido forest reserve. The area is home of the Massai people.
The principal path to the summit starts in the small town of Longido and leads you through the lush nature with its rich wildlife up to a rocky peak. On your way you will see beautiful exotic plants, flowers and animals like buffalo and birds. Mount Longido has 3 vegetation zones: dry zone, rain forest zone and moorland zone. Its peak has stunning and spectacular views over the Maasai land of Tanzania and Kenya.
If you choose this tour with us as a 2 day trek, we will provide an amazing cultural experience at an authentic local Maasai village for you at an additional cost of $30 per person (see: Maasai).

There is no technical difficulty, therefore it Mount Longido considered an easy mountain. The climb can be done in one day, it takes 5-6 hours to reach the top and 3-5 hours to descent. But it is also common for climbers to spend one night in a tented camp on the mountain, enjoy the romantic sunset and sunrise, and then reach the summit on the second day. Sometimes visitors climb Mount Longido as part of the preparations for the ascent of nearby Mount Kilimanjaro.

Itinerary
2 DAYS TOUR:
Day 1:
After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Longido Gate. There we will visit a Massai tribe and learn about their unique culture. Dinner and overnight camping here.

Day 2:
We will hike Mount Longido up to the top and after descent (approx. 10 hours in total) drive you back to your hotel.
1 DAY TOUR:
Early morning after breakfast we will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Longido Gate. Here we start our hike (approx. 10 hours in total). Lunch boxes will be provided for the team. After descent we drive you back to the hotel.
